Israel – In a landmark decision, the Supreme Court of Israel ruled on July 29, 2013, that all public water fluoridation in the country must cease within one year. Fluoridation in the major cities of Israel began during the 1980’s, and national legislation mandating the practice was implemented in 2002. The Supreme Court decision, overturns these programs and bans fluoridation altogether.
United States – A bill was proposed in Washington. D.C. that would phase out the use of sulfuryl fluoride as a food fumigant. The EPA acknowledges that sulfuryl fluoride can leave fluoride residues on treated foods.
Bills have been introduced in the states of Massachusetts and Minnesota; the cities of Avon Park, Florida; Woodland, Washington and Anchorage, Alaska to ban fluoridation of the water systems.
Wichita, Kansas and Portland, Oregon recently rejected fluoridation, and New York City Council member Peter Vallone, Jr., is continuing his efforts to halt fluoridation in that city.
There is a new Fluoride book available!
“The Case Against Fluoride” by Paul Connett, PhD; James Beck, MD, PhD; and H. S. Micklem, DPhil.
This timely and important book takes a new look at the science behind water fluoridation and argues that just because the medical establishment endorses a public health measure doesn’t mean it’s safe. The chemicals used to fluoridate the water that more than 180 million people drink each day are hazardous waste products of the phosphate fertilizer industry. In addition, water fluoridation is a prime example of one of the worst medical practices possible-forced medication with no control over the dose or who gets it.
