Eben Alexander, MD in his new book, “Living in a Mindful Universe“, describes how his experiences during a life threatening coma, in 2008, radically changed his view of the brain, consciousness and the universe. Dr. Alexander found that his past medical career and learning in materialistic sciences was built on false assumptions. Material science is based on the following false assumptions: that only the physical world exists, that consciousness comes out of pure physical properties of the brain, that choices are not our free-will but merely chemical and electrical reactions in the brain, that we are no more than physical bodies and when we die we cease to exist.
None of these are true descriptions of the universe and quantum physics is catching up with spirituality to view a clearer picture of our universe and beyond.
He finds that metaphysical idealism better explains the universe and its many mysteries. He finds that the blend of science and spirituality is needed to explain: how the observer changes reality, that memories are not stored in the physical brain, why the mind is more than the brain, how only consciousness creates reality, the explanation of the 10,000s of Near Death Experiences, the existence of a God that guides the universe, the power of prayer, love and intention and how miracles happen.
The list goes on and on but these and many other concepts are only explained when science and spirituality co-exist.
Quantum physics has been around for nearly 115 years and explains concepts like: how everything is energy/mass vibrations, how we are all entangled with each other, how the observer’s conscious mind brings everything out of a zero-point field into existence and there has to be a Supreme force of unconditional love at our source.
