Do you remember in the past when your school teacher gave the summer book report assignment? Well, this is a book report on a great health book I read this summer. I highly recommend it for everyone interested in balanced health and nutrition information and easy to use tips on living longer and healthier lives.
The book is “The Anti-Inflammation Zone” by Dr. Barry Sears. The author originated the balanced Zone diet years ago and this book is building upon that foundation and addresses the cause of most of our society’s current health conditions.
He describes the epidemic of “silent” chronic inflammation that is one of the biggest causes of Heart Disease, Obesity, Cancer, Type 2 Diabetes, Dementia/Neurological Diseases, Arthritis, chronic pain and even Gum Disease.
The first line of defence is a balanced “zone diet” with balanced carbohydrates and proteins with a dash of oils. The most important ideas i learned from his many good ideas is the great importance of Omega 3 oils and the ease of adding simple exercises to make a big difference in your health.
I included some simple Omega 3 fish oils supplements, light exercise and a more balanced diet and have made great improvements in my triglycerides, “good” HDL cholesterol levels and easily lost 20 pounds.
